In Memory of Marvin

Marvin Meit

February 1935-December 12, 2025

We at Model Motorcars have lost our founder, Marvin Meit. Each of us have lost a friend and a colleague who was instrumental in mentoring us and enriching our lives. Marvin, who grew up in Louisville, KY, studied accounting. While still in high school, he ran a hobby store and played poker with business leaders, which gave him the ammunition to regale his friends with wonderful stories and vivid memories. When he left for New York, it surprised no one. When he became a venture capitalist, it seemed pre-ordained. When he moved to Cleveland to assume the role of a CEO, it must have seemed that the world made perfect sense.

When he called me to inquire about painting a Pocher model, it was a bolt out of the blue. It was also the beginning of Model Motorcars. That was 35 years ago. The intervening years have been a roller coaster ride involving wonderful clients, elaborate models, superb meals, hilarious adventures, great customers, and marvelous suppliers. Our deepest sympathies and condolences go out to his children, Andrew, Sheri, and David, who should take some comfort in the fact that their father was a tireless mentor, a patient teacher, and a source of inspiration for all of us. He will be sorely missed.
